A few suggestions:

Have the windows swap file on its own seperate partition - this speeds things up and frees up 512MB or whatever you use, on your windows partition.

Turn off the hibernation feature which dumps the entire memory contents to the HD when in use so that's however much memory you have MB lost.

Clean your internet cache - I did this the other day and regained a few hundred MB.

Empty recycle bin?

You can get some programs that can delete duplicate DLLs etc. - these free up some space too.

Other than that I'd go into administrative tools -> services and turn off any services you don't need that might use HD space.

Try removing some windows components that you don't use.

Delete all windows temp files.
