LPT ports are not common networking ports. See if you can't get a serial crossover (also known as a 'laplink' cable although its a general design) and then you can use the hyperterminal program included with windows (even windows XP) to make the connection over the COM ports. Ive never actualy done it, but it should be simple enough.
