Easier said than done, Intrepid. If her "friend" stole it, she would be that much less likely to pay for a replacement. The best course of action is to discontinue service to that phone, and have the company nail the person who tries to reactivate the phone. No point leaving an open line out there that you have no control over when the bill is coming out of your pocket.
