It is indeed noted out that the clone's are Rakshasa
But what I remember from the Rakshasa's in Suldanessellar that they where hard to deal with (they know how to use there spells correctly), but when the Rakshasa change in your form, do they have the same properties as you should have - like not having 100% MR (that a Rakshasa has), because the waylaid group is really not that though.
[add] The Monstrous Manual says that Rakshasa's will loose there illusion when they attack.. so the group aren't Rakshasa's if you look it in that way.
A Doppelganger however can attack in the form they take (copies of your party members.)
This points out that the Group is more likely a group of Doppelgangers than a group of Rakshasa's.
