For years i loved ff7 more than any other game in the world, and i hated ff8.
But not long ago i saw ff8 on the shelf really cheap and couldnt help myself but buy it, and ever since i finally finished it, it has now become my favourite game.
The final fantasy series is by far my favourite series, i have finished most of them on the playstation(1) and nintendo but have never played 10, apparently it is good.
my second choice would have to be BG series.
