The have no body hair below the eyes. What they have is only for aesthetic.

This was said in the 2nd edition elven handbook, if I remember right. [/QUOTE]Yes, it does mention the lack of canines and the reasoning behind the it being the lack of evolution. But on page 111 there is picture of a large battle between drow and surface evles and some of them have moustaches. Perhaps Loth gave the male drow facial hair to further distinguish them from their surface brethren. Only one other picture in the book shows an elf with facial hair, but I beleive it is a half-elf.
