I don't get a whole lot of American media these days. I'm not complaining, either--did anybody catch that Florida court decision that Fox News is legally allowed to air inaccurate or false stories?
But what I want to know is, why is it that EVERYBODY in the media seems to think that Bush's carrier landing photo is political gold?
I quote this week's Time Asia: "[The Democrats] will have the sour satisfaction of getting their wish--prescription drugs for the elderly--while granting the President a domestic-policy triumph to equal his airborne landing on the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln."
What the hell? He landed on a big boat and a lot of people who didn't have any choice ran up to congratulate him for sitting in the plane.
He didn't pilot it.
He could have taken a chopper.
He ordered the carrier to swing around so that only open sea would be in the
shot.
How is this a "triumph" and why does anybody care?
