Anyone looking foward to spore?

Anyone else looking foward to the release of Spore?

If you have no idea what im talking about go here http://www.spore.com

or there's a cool vid here: Gameplay Video

Looks rather cool! I downloaded the demo to the creature creator the day it came out and have designed some pretty funky aliens. Can't wait till september 7 for this one.

Yep I'm looking forward to it, although I don't like the online activation. I'd skip it it if I hadn't been waiting for it for so long.

I'm so sick of this online activation crap..what happens when they go out of business in the future, and we're left with a brick. (I would HOPE they would patch it before that happens) but come on, the bloody game is cracked upon release anyway, so I don't know why they make it hard for actual PAYING customers.

Whats next, Biometric scan? lol.. (Oh god, that may not be as outlandish as I figured...um, now that I think about it. and how EA is)

Yeah, the only online bit is if you want download others critters or upload yours.

I've got a few up on the "Sporepedia" that I've made.. search for beebs if you're interested (that's my username).

Actually last I checked Spore was going to use the same DRM as Mass Effect for PC. Upon installing you have to do an online activation or the game won't start. At first they were also planing to require a re-activation every ten days but then settled with having to do one every update or when you get downloadable content, with they plan to have out... every ten days.

I don't know if they relaxed it since last I checked, which was maybe a month ago, but the online activation is definitely there to stay. Even the 10$ Spore Creature editor has online activation.

But hey, there is some "good" news. Recently Bioshock PC which also has online activation has had it's limited number of activations removed which mean that while before you could only ever install the game a couple times before you lost play rights forever, now you can install and play the game you bought as many times as you like, provided you activate online each install/update of course. Aint they generous? Note that changing any hardware in your computer change it's hash and so count as a reinstall requiring a new activation.

No, I'm very confident that EA dropped that from both Mass Effect and Spore.
