You encounter Drizzt and his party after leaving the Underdark. The first time you travel from the Underdark Exit, you will be 'waylaid' by them. ;)

This usually only occurs as a "random encounter" when you head for Athkatla.

It is in chapter 6. Somewhere in the fourth quarter of the game.
BTW, you can play as chaotic good elven ranger with black skin and white hair, but cannot actually play as Drizzt (the character from Salvatore's novels) himself. The plot is entirely different. But that wasn't what you asked, was it?

I've heard that if you play as an elven ranger and name him drizzt and your rep is below 9, Drizzt will fight you to reclaim his name...........

Oh, yes. Same happens if you have his equipment from BG1. He becomes little grumbling...

You can download a playable Drizzt at a few places, I think there is one at www.sorcerers.net ; though that might be for BG1.

In the BG1 Drizzt atleast, part of his script is that when you meet the "real" Drizzt, they will do a mime sort of a thing, and mimic each other, until one of them drops his scimitar onto his foot.

what so special about drizzt anyway? if he is VIP then the makers of the game should give him more role in the game.
