ANIME:suck or not suck?
 

Need I explain farther? I understand younger kids being interested in the 'doesn't make sense but we can market it' dialogue and action in shows like Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, Gundam, Gundam Wing, Gundam Z, other miscellanious Gundam cartoons, Pok'e'mon, and etc. However, there are kids in high school dressing up like characters such as Naruto, and I'm even starting to see adults around wearing those stupid headbands and what not. Therefore I must say suck

Anime unfortunately doesn't stand as a single unified genre in my book. The storylines and methods of telling are rather varied. To say that anime as a whole sucks because of some fanatic in their twenties dressing up like Goku or Naruto or someone else like that, it's narrowminded to say the least.

I say Not Suck because some of it is crap, and some is not.

I like shows with some action and a decent story line. Shows like Bobobo or FLCL (I've only seen what they show on adultswim - cartoon network) are good for a laugh sometimes but otherwise they have a complete lack of focus and I get bored with them.

I apreciate your opinion, and must agree that there are Somewhat decent anime's in existance, though I feel their numbers are few (is that the right there?), I liked the original .hack//sign cartoon, however most anime's consist of similar storylines

.hack//SIGN was a good series, actually the idea kind of reminds me of the Otherland books by Tad Williams.

I also like almost anything done by Miyazaki.

Wow, way to generalize it. Taking a few mainstream cartoons, and condemning it as a whole? And how does people dressing up/acting like cartoon, make it suck? Instead, it probably means that its good enough to make grown men do things like that. Although that's a matter of opinion, but I do not see how you link dressing up to a cartoon's storyline or animation.

As firestorm said, japanese animation is a vaired subject. And (in case you didn't know) a majority of these cartoons are not directed towards the young audience. They are for young adults and above, it is a western misconception that cartoons are only for kids. And what a misconception that is!

So the resulting storyline that the westerners see is often the result of many editing and censorship- thus resulting in a tad bit less story line, and that in most cases makes all the difference. However, this is an extremely rare case, and in most cases the storyline is patched up, and even with terrible voicing dubs , it works.

Still, your first sentence into this thread already shows how little you know of the subject. So before you condemn the whole mutlitude of genre that is included in "Anime" , Its probably better if you do some more research.

But then again, you're two *points at little profile info* so I don't expect you to. :hehe:

Since the only anime I watch is posted on porn sites, I'd have to vote that it does not suck.

Which is strange, since most of the scenes I watch literally do...

How does people getting together to dress up like characters make it suck? Why not just say video games suck or comic books on top of that?

Most animes are diverse in their own way, although to my taste, where they originated from (manga) is far better. Not tarnished with crappy voice acting, bad theme songs and dialogue. Hellsing, Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, One Piece, Bleach, are all good anime's in my opinion.

But you gotta pick your battles, there's a flood of shite in the Japanese market for manga like boys turning into girls, girls turning into guys, etc, etc, and those yes, do generally suck. But don't condemn something as a whole based on a couple things, eh?

I havn't seen the new animated Dragonlance movie, but I hear the animation was terrible, horrible, yuckie, gooey scrumptious.... well, maybe not those last few but you get my point.
I was really sad to hear that. The point is, you're gonna get good, bad and everything in between. And most of that is a value judgment anyway. If you like it, you watch it, if not, you don't. It's pretty simple stuff really.
