and I didn't really have to life a finger. I took out the Master of Thralls and destroyed his orb of mastery. Then the thralls basically killed the Warden for me.

hmm

what mod have i installed that makes him quite hard work then?

tactics doesn't mention it specifically - is he included in one of the toughest ___ components?

It'd have to be something in a mod, definately. I'm running vanilla aside from the baldurdash fixpack and bonus merchants.

See, I always see that as a problem! I need to destroy the orb at the moment I'm ready to unleash on the Warden, because I'm not going to let some NPC take credit for my kill.

Ditto! Not to mention that once you kill the warden you can no longer enter those other planar rooms, so you miss out on loot and XP. Myself, I always try hard to clear all the planar rooms (with shadowed or invisible characters so you don't activate the Warden and his group) before finally having one person stay back to destroy the orb while the rest of my gang, buffed and hasted, prepares for the final assault.

Wow. I've never had the Thralls beat the warden, truth be told. They *always* get slaughtered in the first 30 seconds. Then here I come, too late to rescue them. :(

But I still get teh XP :D

Well truth be told it was actually an ettercap summoned by the Thrall's what did the killing. The thralls were in fact all dead by the time I got there. But regardless, I got the experience, though I'm not sure if it was quest xp for taking out the warden or kill xp. But since actually making sure the thralls survive wasn't part of the quest I'm not too concerned with it. At least they died free.
