DC Tutorial: How to create a combat event

1 Attachment(s)
Here's a tutorial that I've done for adding combat events to your design.

It's aimed at people new to Dungeon Craft.

It's the first in a new line of tutorials that will eventually become the DC Designer's Guide. :D

Very cool! Good work, this will help a lot of people get into making their own games! :)

Looking forward to the eventual DC Designer's Guide ;)

Bah!
(Pushed the wrong button)
But that may be because of I'm inexperienced with DC.

What particularly do you mean by 'versatility'? A single even is not enough (or too much) versatile? The whole set of events is not enough (or too much) versatile?

What we've done is copy all of the events that FRUA had plus added a couple, like 'play movie'. In general, the events do at least what their FRUA counterparts do.

If there's something you would like help on, just let us know. :) It may be that a feature request needs to be put in at SourceForge, or that we know a trick or two to help you out. ;)

You could also interprete it the other way round - at least I (not used to FRUA) thought that there was too much versatility... E.g., it took me 3 years of crafting until I found out by accident were the "END GAME" option was hidden... :D
Furthermore, some events seem a little obsolete. You can add sounds in the "text event" without adding text, so there is no difference to the "play sound event" at all, right? However, I am fine with everything now, mostly due to the fact that I now have (partly) understood how to use LogicBlocks...

Logic Blocks and scripts make DC so much more fun, don't they? :D

As soon as I figure them out, I know I'll enjoy it a lot more. ;) Just kidding. :D:D:D

For those reading this that don't know, the "end game" option is in the utilities event.

I would have mentioned that, but I had already forgotten again... :D

Aha! So the last time you finished an adventure was already hidden by the fog of the past... :D :D :D
