What other blessings?

I'm confused. In the "best tips" i read, blessing an armor with stone-magic adds armor-class to it. My pixie-warlock has the artifact-of-stone-spell, level 7 in blessings, but whatever armor he tries to bless, he gets a "you need other blessings"-message. What did i do wrong? What the hell does that priest want from me? :confused2:

Re: What other blessings?

Those messages are sometimes misleading.. .like now, perhaps :)

In order to bless something, you need...

1. An artifact spell (you've got that)

2. The Cabalist Trait

3. At least one level in the Blessing skill

4. An item that can be enchanted (some can't!)

5. That item needs at least one less blessing or enchantment than your Blessing skill level

If the item already has benefits (such as a Dragon Arrow), you need a higher Blessing level to add your first blessing to it. What are you trying to bless, what does it currently have, and what's your Blessing level?

IIRC, the Armor blessing on armor, gloves, pants, and helms adds 10% to the armor value. Putting it on a ring or bracer adds 1.0 even... a far better deal :wow:

I never put anything except Armor on rings and bracers, and will save silver rings and bronze cuffs whenever I find them. Two rings and a cuff... +36 AC (+42 if you're Enlightened)? No question there... :hehe:

Re: What other blessings?

A few minor additions :)
(a) Magical items have the Enchants stat. This stat tells you how many blessings/enchantments have already been cast on the item for you. Your Blessings (or Enchants) skill must be higher than this value and you can add only (your skill - Enchants stat) blessings or enchantments. The blessings and enchantments stack together so that, for example, you will need either Blessing 7 or Enchants 7 for 3 blessings and 4 enchants on the same item. Yes, some items cannot be blessed (or enchanted) at all even if they have lower Enchants stat than 12 (or have no Enchants stat at all).
(b) Yes, +42 :D Let us also mention Ardibren's Keepsake. Well it's a quest item but it can be inherited from game to game (so that you can have more than one Ardibren's Keepsake in the end) and it can be enchanted. You can add 12 (or 14) blessings to it. Armor blessings can be added and they are also "+1" like in the case of rings or bracelets. Therefore, +56 plus some Frost Resistance if you want :D
Use "Judge Ooka" method in the Guild if you want your private Ardibren's Keepsake.

Or you can just use the method outlined in my post "Item Editor", this method requires that the item can be bought and sold. Here is the code, it is all hexadecimal, just insert into a save game inventory slot: 03 01 00 00 04 00 00 00 00 00 41 72 64 69 62 72 65 6E 27 73 20 4B 65 65 70 73 61 6B 65 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 14 00 00 14 00 00 00 00 00 14 00 00 00 00 00 01 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

Edit: this is the code for Ardibren's Keepsake, you don't need to inherit it from game to game, you only need a hexadecimal editor.

Re: What other blessings?

Okay, maybe i'm just an idiot, but i still can't find my mistake. So let's check bungleaus list:

1. An artifact spell (you've got that) That's right!

2. The Cabalist Trait Yep!

3. At least one level in the Blessing skill I have level 7.

4. An item that can be enchanted (some can't!) They can be enchanted by other party-members

5. That item needs at least one less blessing or enchantment than your Blessing skill level I tried items with one single enchantment and even a f*** trouser i bought in the store.

So what's the problem? :confused3: Is the artifact-of stone-spell the wrong one to bless armor? This character doesn't have other artifact spells right now.

Re: What other blessings?

It seems that you need the Fiend spell to enchant armor for a better AC.

I use the table in the best tips thread.

(Let's see if this link works.)

Re: What other blessings?

OK maybe I can't read either.

The table says that you need to BLESS the armor and have the Stone spell.
That means you need to go the Temple.

You Enchant in the Wizard store/guild but that uses a different Trait and skill pair.

Re: What other blessings?

I know, occultist-trait and Enchantment-skill is for enchanting in the wizard-shop. Cabbalist-trait and blessing-skill for blessing in the temple.
My character can enchant weapons in the wizard-shop (add "zap") but in the temple he always gets the "you need other blessings"-message.
I really don't have any more ideas.

Re: What other blessings?

At last i got it. The warlock acquired the artifact-of-fiend-spell and now he can bless armor for more AC.
Seems to be an error in the table in the best tips.
