For instance could I make a multiplayer party then invite say viconia and aerie. Could then I romance aerie with my main then viconia with another one of my multiplayer chars? Thanks

No, only the protagonist can have a romance.

Certain NPCs can romance each other, mostly NPCs from unoffcial mods, but PC characters other than the protagonist are out of luck.

You can have more than one romance with your protagonist, one of the baldurdash tweaks ( http://members.rogers.com/mrkevvy ) diables all the checks, so you can have any and all romances with any character.
