So, I dropped my cell phone in the toilet.

This happened about 2 hours ago, and it still won't turn on.

Anybody ever submerse a phone and have it come back to life?

I'm really pissed b/c I really don't have time to get to a Verizon Wireless store until Sunday, and I'm lined up with job interviews this week. I really, really could use the darn thing!

I'd take out the battery, wipe it dry inside & out, and maybe spend a couple minutes aiming a hair dryer at it to evaporate the moisture inside.

If it doesn't work and you can't use it until Sunday, don't forget to call your cell number from another phone and check for messages...

Few minutes? you need to dry it in a hot dry environment for up to 48 hours, and you might get it dry enough to turn it on, however, by attempting to do so sooner, you have probably permanently broken it like I have seen many times in the past :(

I was without a cell phone for the longest time. My younger sisters both had phones, but I said that I didn't need one and refused to carry one. Around the time I decided it was time to get one, one of my sisters dropped her phone in a lake. She had tried everything to revive it, but nothing worked. After a week, she let me near it. I picked it up and plugged it into the charger- it sprung to life. I said, "It's mine now" and claimed it by conquest. So yeah, if it isn't broken, it's at the very least lost its charge in the water and will need to be charged after a thorough drying.

I kinda had the same thing once, well...i didn't drop it in the toilet, i was talking on the phone while walking in the rain, and it started acting all crazy, like playing music without me pressing any buttons, and taking pics all by itself. Back at home i took it apart and left the battery and the other components to dry for somewhat 24, after that all was well again.

Well, when i dropped my phone in the toilet, it was dead. Mind you, i was at a clients at the time, so it didnt get a great drying for a few hours...

Plus i hated that phone anyway, so was happy that it had had an accident.

My little brother has had his phone fall in a lake twice. The second time broke the screen, but the phone still started after a thorough drying and recharging. Just take it apart and wait.

My boyfriend dropped his phone into his tea. And then it got heavily rained on. He dryed it out for a while, and I think it still works...

Trogdor's got it: About 48 hours will tell.

I went swimming with my phone in the Mississippi during Mardis Gras this year in New Orleans -- hehe, that was fun -- and it took about two days (disassembled) of air drying before it would turn on.

Battery was wrecked (phone worked only while it was plugged in), but put in a new one & it worked great.

It took about a further week for the screen to fully un-fog. Am still using the phone.
