I noticed after using the 'aim' special ability that comes with the Heartseeker Bow that the THACO modifier still applies even when you equip a melee weapon. This can come in handy as it lowers your thaco by -7 or -8 even if its only for a few rounds. By the way I do have the North American patch installed.
