Well, it's about 32 years since I left Germany; my country of birth and I'm finally coming home for the first time. It will be around Sept 10th. My home town is in Prum/Eifel (don't know how to put the 2 dots over the "u").

Are any of you from around that area?

I'm feeling a mix of emotions. I think there will be happy memories and certainly some sadness as our move to Canada was not pretty, mostly because of family issues..

According to this post here, Papa Schlumpf was originally an alias of Grojlach, but he dropped it and one of his dorm mates picked it up.

..and I moved to Canada in '74, so the bad stuff is ancient history now.

Interstingly enough, my last name does end in "kamp", which is obivously more Dutch. I've never taken the time to search my roots. I tried it online once, but didn't get anywhere.
