I just started playing and Love it. It's free mostly except for your disc purchases and it's great exercise for a 41 year old like me. Low impact great scenery and it only takes about 2 hours for 18 holes.

A buddy of mine is really addicted to it... plays in tournaments and such. One of the parks near my house also has a disc golf course on it
So... two hours... what score? ;) |
We call it frizbee golf here, and I must say, I suck at it LOL. Now, if it were a tree hitting contest, I'd be golden! ;)

My dad actually does it professionally. He says it's great, but he injured himself this one time and had to take a break. And when people asked him why he was limping, he got to say, "Nothing, it's just the ol' frolf injury."
|
how did he hurt his leg playing disc golf?
|
That's what I asked my mother when I found out about it. I guess when you're a 50 year old smoking diabetic, it's easier to injure yourself playing disc golf than you might imagine.

WTF is disc golf?
|
THIS is disk golf
|
And is it popular over the pond? wierd...

we have about 1400 courses in the US and about 300 in Europe. If you go to youtube you can see a lot of instructional videos.
I typically score 4-6 under par but these are relativly easy courses most holes are less than 125 meters but the course I usually play is loaded with trees, Ladyzekke you would like it. You really need to be accurate. As you get older it is easier to blow out a knee when throwing a backhand "normal frizbee toss" do to the torque you generate when planting your foot and twisting your feet, that's why I throw only forehand or sidearm tosses it is much easier on my body. If you haven't tried it go do it it's fun. |
