My brother-in-law is an inventor, like his dad, but he's also a writer and has several short stories, focused in the children's book genre mostly. However, his inventions have only made him enough money to break even with the cost of manufacture, and the books have never been seen by anyone that could make them into something sellable.

Now he has a new idea. By using eBay as his point of sale, he is offering full rights to anyone who thinks they can take one of his stories and make something of it. He's offered up his favorite work and has posted it on eBay, and then paid for publicity to have coverage in the paper and online.

Here's the links.

I've always thought my machine ate my socks...

Can't really comment on the idea except to say that its a pretty good way of avoiding copyright fees. Erm, i don't mean to offend, but has he considered the possibility of a pen name at all?.

lol! No offense taken. The family has suffered jokes so much that they make up their own now. Whenever my father-in-law is on the phone and somebody asks his name, he always says, Blood, like Dracula would spell it. Getting a job at the Red Cross or something would probably be out of the question...but the kids in his class like it. He teaches college algebra at the moment. Dr. Blood, they call him.
