When I go from BG to BG2 (I think I'll be getting BG2 soon) will I be able to carry all of my NPC's from BG into BG2 or just my main character?

You can only import characters which you created, not the NPC's like Minsc, Jaheira, etc.

If you are playing in multiplayer mode with more than one created PC, you can of course import all of them into a multiplayer mode BG2 game. (That is, running BG as a single player game in multiplayer mode)

However, don't think that you have seen the last of the BG1 NPC's. Some of them will be in BG2 as well.
