Time for reflection I guess
What did you achieve last year that you are proud of? What was the best thing that happened to you? What do you hope to achieve in 2007? |
Hmm, is someone going to dig up the predictions thread from last year?

My best achievements where to spend more 'quality time' with my children rather than just grumpy and tired from work time. Be more relaxed at work, they don’t pay me enough to stress out. I hope to continue that into the New Year. My new aims for the new year is to spend more time with good friends doing special things like motorbike rides, camping ect rather than just sitting round getting pissed. Oh and getting back my fitness and health! |
I'm proud over that I took my driver license. It was around this time last year I started practice private, in June I started in a school and in October I took it.
I'm also "proud" over living on my own 200km from my parents this last half year. Never thought I survive alone like that! He he. This new year I hope I start with orienteering again. Been missing it and I really need to practise again. I will try to spend some more time with my girlfriend when she visit me, and when she's not here I will spend more time with my hobby Programming and writing articles about my favorite subjects. |
I'm proud I actually did half-decent in my GCSE's (bit exams at the end of compulsory education).
I'm proud that I wasn't a stupid arse, and didn't let my foolishness get in the way of making the best choice for me about further education. I hope to learn a new skill. At the moment I'm looking at music, but also martial arts - I'd love to say I have a black belt in something. I also hope I'll buckle down come January and do well in my exams. I haven't even started revising yet, and they start on the 11th. I'm gonna need all the help I can get. |
Happy new year y'all!!!
2006 saw me finish the last of the subjects required for my degree, so that was a relief. No more lectures! No more exams!! Who knew it was going to take me EIGHT YEARS before I had my last lecture . I also made a start at actually writing my phd thesis. It isn't exactly fun, but it is very satisfying and a relief to have my thesis be an actual tangible thing rather than just the sort of 'concept' it has been these past three years. You know that at some point you will have to write it but it seems so big and unwieldy that it is hard to think about how it will ever be finished. So to get two full chapters and three quarters of another written is a very good feeling. And I did the two introductory chapters in about a month, so it is good to know that not only are they written, they were not super difficult to write. Plus I will be submitting a journal article in the very near future. I'm kind of annoyed that I didn't get around to submitting it during last year - mostly laziness - but nevermind. Otherwise I had a pretty good year. I started playing sport again, something I haven't done since high school, and even then I was very half-hearted about it. Not really since about year 8 have I played sport enthusiastically. So I played netball, which was really fun, and also great socially. And tennis a couple of times, which was good as well. Underarm serving though lol. I bookended the year with two long weekend holidays with friends, which were great. So a good year all in all! Hope all of you had great ones, and good wishes for 2007! I guess my finest moment was directing The Vagina Monologues, which was the first student-run production to consistently sell out at our school. That was pretty nice.
As for 2007, a friend of mine seems convinced that it will be a good year for me. I hope to be admitted to graduate school, be it in NY or London. And there's the ball! Happy new year! I declare 2007 the Year of Me! Kids, stay safe, and stay away from the Korbel. It does things to you... or so I hear. |
