2006 Idiot of the Year: Laura Mallory, of Loganville, Georgia.
This vigilant mother of four has demanded local schools remove Harry Potter from their libraries because, in her analysis, the books are an "evil" attempt to indoctrinate children in Wicca religion. Congratulations Laura, and good luck on your quest to eradicate the dark forces which pollute children's literature.

Silver Medal: Nevada state senator Bob Beers who's pushing the legislature to consider letting teachers carry guns in classrooms "to stem a rise in school violence." Ready, aim, learn!

Bronze Medal: The 22-year-old British war vet who attempted to launch a Black Cat Thunderbolt rocket out of his rear end, on Guy Fawkes Day.

Honorable Mention: The hard-working cops of Muzaffarpur, India who attempted to arrest a 3-month-old baby for robbing a bus only days after his birth.

I think they're listed in reverse order...

That top one actually happened to a school near me. They also make people buy certain brand clothes/trainers for school/PE, to make sure everyone is equal.

I have never read or even looked at something but I know it's evil and will get it banned.

It's more like "Ignorance is Bliss". Try as I might, I can't make the connection between Wicca and Harry Potter. One of the ladies at my mom's church had a similar bent at one time, until my mom asked her where the kids were going to get the wands.

Yep they are crazy sheep all right Larry, we will be going to a friends house tomorrow who is adamant that her children will not get infected by 'Harry potter' but she is the biggest 'lord of the ring fan going'. I never discuss religious topics with her but it beggars’ belief that someone so sane/sensible/worldly/ can have such a view because someone has told her to think that way.

I guess its even harder for 'sane' religious people like yourself Larry because it is views like those anti potter sheep give the 'anti - religious brigade like myself more ammunition.
