Ahmet Ertegun, Founding Chairman of Atlantic passed away today in New York City at the age of 83. He had been hospitalized with a head injury since October 29, when he fell backstage at a Rolling Stones concert.
Now for those who dont know about Ahmet they may want to check out that wonderfull film "RAY". The list of acts this guy helped make big is just massive. He started up a small label Atlantic Records back in 1947 and was legendry for his honesty and backing of his artists. He was still the chairman untill the day he died. Led Zeppelin Rolling Stones Aretha Franklin Otis Redding I'm sure some of our musicians on the forum will add to the above list. A sad day but really his was a life that should be celabrated |
As the wife just pointed out *shame on me*
AC/DC should be top of the list |
