As I posted a few months back, my Wireless Connection sucks bad. Never higher than Low (at the best of times!) it's starting to get on my nerves.

So, playing WoW and after the 20th disconnect in as many minutes, a friend pointed this out.

Now, I don't know if it, or anything similar, is available in the US/Aus (where most of the members live, IIRC) but has anyone seen anything like it? Reccomendations? Does it look safe, look like it'll work, look like a scam?

I know not much of the technical side, my dad does but he just said "Find out how much they are and we'll get some". Would rather know if I'm wasting my money first, hence coming to the almighty knowledge of Ironworks for answers.

It's a good router, and allows either wired connections or wireless.

We have 1 PC attached from the router via the Ethernet cable, and two wirelessly. It sets itself up automatically, and just acts as a hub. It also runs the phones etc.

When I first heard of something like this, I thought it couldn't be possible, because the changing current could prove damaging. Then I started looking into it a bit, and found out it's really a nice piece of technology. So yeah, it works. Kinda.
It's still very young technology, so if I were you, I'd stay away from it until it gets all the different clearances from the FCC, FEMA or whoever else has a say in it.

We're not NTL via a BT line (BT arsed about too much, so we just told them to stick it where it don't shine and went with NTL, who sorted it in a day or so tops).

The problem is the range of the router. It's on the bottom floor, while I'm two floors above it, hence the low connection all the time.

In that case, it would be cheaper for you to buy a repeater hub for 10-15$.

Depending on what other PC's are in the house. It might mean that you need to extend cabling to another PC, but it's cheap still.</font>

Got one of those myself and it works great! I was using wireless for quite a while and although I had an excellent signal all the time, it couldn't beat having the PC connected directly.

Bought one of those kits and I haven't looked back since.

And it's not possible to move the router, or run a cable, due to my dad being stubborn, and the way the house is set out.

Nah, it's not the same product, but the specs are pretty much the same, except for the price, and yours looks much better [img]smile.gif[/img]

Aye I get you, where did you get it from? (Somewhere that ships Worldwide I hope :D ) I'm guessing somewhere in Aus but there's always hope?
