In reference too : http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/...233393,00.html Nice to see her get out there and be with her son, but the following quote confuddles me. Quote:
Is it me, or this a stupid comment? If it's me, tell me as I just don't get it! He was a solider, who would have attacked if needed. He was shot by a solider. Who attacked. Fair enough, he may not have hurt a fly in his every day civilian life, but aren't soldiers required to open fire if needed? They did this to him as it's war.....I just dont get it. |
I agree, one of the things I hate about 'human interest' stories - they shouldn't be in the news in my opinion.
The situation is looking quite nasty in Afghanistan at the moment for British troops, they're dying faster there than they are in Iraq :S Apparently this isn't guerilla warfare either, according to soldiers accounts I read in the paper today, but rather wave after wave of Taliban fighters attacking their positions. Sometimes there are five attacks in a day and troops have had to fight hand to hand sometimes due to not being able to shoot them all fast enough. Ah well, this is what happens when you leave Afghanistan without creating a stable regime. If only someone had listened to the naysayers a couple of years ago when everyone was saying how great and rosy the situation in Afghanistan was...yeah... trying going outside Kabul... |
Agreed completely.
And this isn't a dig at Americans, but it started off as an American war, and I think in the last week 19 British soldiers have died in combat. How many Americans? They aren't fighting the same battle we are... |

As an american I take no offense to your comment Lavandathar....We have taken casualities on both fronts, but over here you hear almost nothing about Afghanistan, the only way I know whats going on there is through friends in the Army that are stationed there and throught the BBC website......Its absolute bananas...
