Let's see...I currently have 7 fans in my machine, and a 3/4 can of oil that was already here when we moved into this house. Therefore, any oiling I do will be totally cost-efficient. Now, taking that I assume that fans would not have to be oiled all that much, I might decide to do each one maybe twice a year, one drop per fan. If I try to work out how many drops of oil are left in the can of 3/4 full, I can assume that I will have rid myself of the entire PC and replaced it with a new system inside 5 years from now, and I assume that I will still have that same can.
Now, I may need to use that can of oil for other projects besides that of fan oiling so therefore it can be assumed that I should expect that can to last me at least five years, giving that I've only used it on the fans a total of 70 times, and let's just say 100 drops for a good round number. I'll estimate five hundred drops of oil in the can, so we can assume that I will have oiled 250 fans, twice a year. I'll assume that future purchases of cases and hardware will lead me to owning a good guessed number of 5 fans at any one given time. I think that comes out to 50 years, but now my head hurts and I don't want to think anymore. What the heck was I doing, writing all this crap?
