Hey guys, I recently reinstalled BG2, started a game, got like 20 mins into it and uninstalled it because I had forgotten to add the patch.
You know it's weird but I have never installed a patch in the middle of a game, that is, by the time I read reviews and buy a game the patches are already there to download and install before I play.
So is this actually necessary? To uninstall the game deleting unpatched saves and all or does the patch simply work over the whole thing (which I imagine it does) fixing everything it needs to without any interruption to your gaming no matter how far your into it?

You do not need to uninstall or remove your save games. You can patch halfway.
