Wich do you prefer? I prefer WinZip, but I also use WinRar on rare occasions.

I don't have preferences, there's things you need Winrar for, and there's things you need Winzip for. You're comparing apples with oranges.

WinRar.

I usually use UltimateZip tho, as that's free and unpacks just about anything... haven't managed to make multi-volume .rar files with it, so been using WinRar for that.

Uuuummm... new best idea: There are those of us who don't use Windows :D

This is hardly a valid question, WinRAR is necessary and can do everything winzip can do. Also RARs usually pack better so you might aswell use them.

Well, when you download a .zip file or a .rar file, you don't have much choice, do you?

I think winzip is easier to use and has a better interface, but winrar is more useful for compiling... *ahem* ... files.... :D

I always use ultimatezip in windows (barely use windows though), it has support for both winzip and winrar plus a few other very helpful formats.

I use both winzip and winrar. I prefer winzip though. it's easier.

Hivetyrant 10-18-2004 02:44 AM

I only use WinRAR, I havnt used Winzip for at least a year...WinRAR can do everything it can and better.

Shouldn't there be a Poll in here to tally the votes ?

I use both whenever I have differnt things to do
