As per the title.

I really don't think so. Not now at least... I realize that BG and ToSC share, but ToB, in my opinion, isn't an expansion as much as it's an independent game. That and both boards seem rather lively at the moment, while BG is a rather old game and gets only a few posts per day. I would think that, if a merger is planned, it should wait a while until the games get a little older and people stop posting quite so much. As it is, we still have newbies. Imagine the chaos if they're trying to deal with Irenicus and his dungeon while others have aspirations of... greater things?
"Belm allows an EXTRA ATTACK every round! So does Haste!"
"I have ten critical hits per round."
"....."

Just my opinion, though. And I don't know if you were looking for feedback or not, but I figured, debater that I am, that I would cite reasons for my vote.

<span style="color: lightblue">I also say no, because in my mind there is a much better way to simplify things: make the SOA forum for questions about BG2 without TOB, and the TOB forum for questions about BG2 with TOB, including questions about Chapters 1 - 7. This model is already used, rather succesfully, at Sorcerer's Place, and would mean no more questions of 'do you have TOB?', and less wasted posts arguing about whether a thread should go in the TOB forum. It would allow us to answer questions more accurately to a poster's game: if it's in the SOA forum, we don't mention Foebane, for example. Merging the forums would, as I see it, have just the opposite effect to this: instead of simplyfying matters for people answering a question (and hence giving a useful answer faster), it would mean even more posts needing to ask "Do you have TOB?".

Nice in theory, but fantasy in application. There will always be a newcomer who does not read the guidelines/rules. ó,ò More often the majority than the minority in fact.

I say yes. The Throne of Bhaal forum is bleeding to death already as we speak. The NWN SoU and HotU forum is working fine as we speak, so I don't see why or how we can't do the same to Baldur's Gate 2 and its expansion.

Even the BG1 board is working this way.

I also say yes, I think it may also help people who have ToB questions to have them answered quicker as quite a lot of people have both, but may not visit the TOB forum as much.

Maybe I am undecided but I am leanin towards yes. Altough I think that some posts would contain waaaay too much spoilers for first timer`s. But since ToB forum is practiclly not visited (2 or 3 members and this is for Guiness record book) I think yes. But the fact is that the most valuable posts came from ToB forum IIRC.

I said no, and I'm still sticking to it now that I've read everyones' opinion. ToB has so may major spoilers that would be really annoying to see if you were a newbie. ToTSC doesn't have any spoilers about your lineage or give an ending to the game like ToB does, so I say no, keep them separate.

The better part of your lineage is covered in Shadows of Amn, Throne of Bhaal just makes the story more 'deep', I'd say.

Balintherlas 03-25-2004 08:19 PM

I said maybe, what of those who do not own tob yet? It would be a pretty big forum to search for when alls u really wanna kno is wher to find the air elemtal statue.
