Alrighty, this is a poll I'm doing for a school project (we're working on probability-related stuff, again... bah). Please only answer if you've played both 2nd and 3rd Edition. Thanks.

This has been done before.
Rules and mechamisms-wise 3rd ed is far superior to 2nd ed. It is easier to figure out, less inconsistent and makes it easier to alter a lot of things. On the other hand I think that many of the resources and campaign settings are inferior to 2nd ed. The Forgotten Realms stuff is just fine, but the Manual of the Planes suck. Also the psionicists have been nerfed and has lost a lot of their uniqueness. I am also somewhat critical of the concept behind the monk class. |
i could never decide. 3rd ed is easier to use but i first used 2nd ed so i know it almost inside out. i'd probably say 3rd just for ease

2nd Edition by a long shot. How come you didn't have a choice for 1st edition? That's the edition I started out with way back in 1981. :D
|
3rd Editions is way easier to:
1) Learn 2) Use 3) Change Who needs supplements when you can create your own universe? thats what my friend and I are doing in the d20 modern campaign. |
The only thing that the d20 system sucks at is ultra-realism. Reason: The whole concept of hit-points and levels.

But between 2nd edition and third, third is the best by far. A lot more flexible, rules where reworked and simplified and it's a lot easier to teach to new players, and more. |
I once thought about porting Planescape to Storyteller rules.
