How do you backstab?

(I think) You have to sneak up invisibly or in the shadows behind your victim, then if you hit, it will say so in the little box at the bottom of the screen, and tell you how much damage.

If your thief is invisible (either by invisibility spell or by stealth) walk to as close to the creature as possible. Then, once you are right next to it, hit it. Your THAC0 is lowered by 4 while you are invisible, which gives you a good chance of hitting the creature. The damage you do depends on the level of your thief (levels 1-4, damage = x2, levels 5-8, damage = x3, levels 9-12, damage = x4 and levels 13+ = x5 damage). does dual weild affect backstab? double backstab or something

Don't think so since the first attack of a round always count

i have a question about backstab...
if you're hiding in shadows and you get behind an opponent to backstab, if you miss with your first hit you appear...can you still backstab after this if the opponent hasn't turned around and seen you yet?

no, you have to be invisible or hidden to backstab
