This may have been covered before, but just out of curiosity, what do the hardened dipsos reckon is the best and most survivable way of doing a drinkies session. For me (and I have years of experience) I tend to go :-

Starter - Beer (NOT lager - Export or Stout only)

Main Course - Red wine

Dessert - Whisky

Obviously survivability is directly related to the quantity/proportion of the above ingredients

Being a student generally copious amounts of anything that's cheap. This has led to severe 'reactions' due to large volumes of alchopops, aftershock, and various other horrible horrible drinks.

I normally stick to beer, generally bitter or stout, if I can. I also have a soft spot for a nice single malt, speaking of which....

I'm a firm advocate of the old Texas rule: "Dance with the one ya brung!" That is, keep at whatever you start with. No mixing...only leads to bad, BAD news! http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif

Clear alcohols over dark are best; fruit mixers or light sodas for setups over darker ones such as colas. You're more inclined to "take the upward path" in your inebriation--and less chance of "morning after blues".

Beer (Killians Red or Amber Boch).

Tequilla any way you would like to serve it.

Blackberry Schnaupps.

I also like a good wine every now and then.

you know.... I wish there weren't so many 'creative' names for mixed drinks...

I was in this restuarant with my mother and friend, they told me to order them drinks while they were off to the restroom. After reading the drinks menu, The person who works at the restuarant stopped by my table, and I told her that I want to order two 'Long Island Iced Tea' for them and water for me. But she told me that my waitress will be by later. By the time the woman left, mother and friend came back. I told them what I was planning to order for them.

needless to say, they corrected me what the 'Long Island Iced Tea' was....

duh...... I honestly thought I was just ordering plain iced tea....

Never, ever, mix beer and red wine.
You are asking for a killer hangover, and some things that would really embarass you if you could ever remember them (but there will be friends who do remember, oh yes).

I usually drink spirits with mixers - gin & tonic or vodka & coke and stick with it. Beer makes me rowdy and increases my trips to the bathroom, and if I get drunk on wine I usually end up very morose. I used to drink to excess, but have cut down a lot and hardly ever get drunk now. I wasn't enjoying it any more.

Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so.

I love a decent red wine and a good single malt. When it's really hot outside I occasionally have a dutch beer or one of those Bacardi Breezer thingies (Watermelon flavour)
But I don't drink excessively and I never ever get drunk, yuck! http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/puke.gif

I don't mean to offend any of you Auzzies, but i can't stand your beer. Me im a guiness man - Draught or stout, not everybody's taste, guess your born with it. Beamish or kilkenny is also good. Im a big fan of Tennants lager and Mac's also. Then to finish the night off kill yourself with whiskey, Johnnie walker Black with ice, best drank in Kilmarnoch at the Black Bull.

Time is only relevant if you have none !

WOLFGIR 05-21-2001 03:50 AM

Red wine and whiskey are preferable if one is to eat and drink and to talk (understandable afterwards..) if not, well GT and Finlandia Vodka is good way to keep you going, for awhile http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif

Hot summer days, alot of lime and mexican beer, clear martini drinks..
