How did you choose the name you use at Ironworks, and what does it mean (if it means anything at all)?

My nickname here is something my roommate started calling me for two reasons: 1) I like gadgets and playing around on the internet; 2) I'm incredibly short and pixie-like (according to him, anyway). So...he started calling me CyberPixie http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

Seeker of Truth

The Queen of Yemen, which was the land of Sheba during the time of Solomon, was named Bilqis, (pronounced bil-KEES). Have never found out the true meaning of the name, but it's a common name used in the middle east.

is the name of a cocktail fashionable in New Orleans from the 1800's to the present day. It was originally made of brandy, absinthe, and a dash of bitters. Later, Anisette was substituted for the absinthe, since absinthe was roundly outlawed as a dangerous hallucinogen (wormwood). You can find out more about the history of Sazerac at http://www.sazerac.com/history.html . Sazerac is also a type of New Orleans jazz that differs from Dixieland. It was popularized in the pop culture of the late 40's through the 60's with such names as Frank Sinatra and Bobby Darin.

I chose the name because I have a strong affinity for Louisiana, especially New Orleans, and because "Sazerac" is a great wizard-sounding name. I also like the cocktail as well, and I love jazz. Also: I'm a veteran Wizardry player, and in classic Wizardry, names were limited to a total of seven characters: hence, "Sazerac" has long been used by me for my foremost wizard character.

It's also hard to find other "Sazerac" names out on the 'Net! It's unique, and it has a story behind it.

Tancred: a name mentioned as belonging to a Norman knight who fought alongside Richard, the Lionheart, during the Crusades at Jerusalem. Supposed to be the most pious of Richard's closest retainers. I named my BG Paladin Tancred - there was a hefty wodge of irony in the offspring of an evil god to try to find escape from his destiny by serving a good god. From there, it seemed a natural name to adopt when joining the forums...
