That's a great article. I had to leave a comment about it there, and I have to say here that I largely agree with it. I got about 40 spam messages from "teen girls" that were going to be in my area in a week, and promptly deleted, and blocked the users from contacting me. I wanted it to be for my music, not for a list of 20,000 "friends" that I'll never meet. Interesting note; as I posted on the blog entry, the only non artist friends on my list are people that I know from either here, or at Oasis. The rest of the place is quite scarey...
