Hey - I tried DDO a few weeks ago and was really turned off by it. Does anyone know if there are any RPG online games out there (with graphics, although they don't have to be "cutting edge") that have turn-based combat? I know there are still MUDs/MUSHes out there, but I don't want something that is only text-based.
I remember years ago AOL had an online Gold-Box style game that I really liked, although it was kinda expensive to play (IIRC they charged per hour). I think it was called NWN, was quite a few years back. Even Gold-Box level graphics are fine for me. I just don't want to feel like I am playing Quake or Doom, with D+D weapons/spells being used instead of guns and ammo. |

It's the running around like an idiot feeling would be my guess as he wants a turn-based game.

So, if you played Quake or Doom turn based, how many shots per round, until you just stand there while the enemy chomps on you?

I think Incubation was pretty cool, never tried it online tho.

The Fallout games would be sorta close to playing Quake or Doom in turn-based mode IMO, and for me Fallout was much more fun. I just don't want to feel like I am playing an arcade game that someone labeled as a RPG.

Also, you can always play some Black Isle games (BG, BG2, IWD, etc) and set the auto-pause option to "Each turn".
