is there anyway i can up my intellegence with my mage? he has an 18 at the moment and id rather not cheat to do it

That I know of, no. They didn't include the tombs that were in BG1 that allowed you to increase stats. The best you can do is choose a species with a bonus on intelligence. I think Gnomes can have 19.

There is a way. If you have TOB you can get a +1 intelligence boost from the machine of lum the mad in watchers keep.

in ToB you can increase your stats in the watchers keep, otherwise you can't increase your stats permanently till the end of the game, at least not without cheating.

potions will get your intelligence up high enough to overcome the max spell per lvl problem and increase your chance of learning spells.

Play a gnome.

If you have patience, you can wait late into ToB, if not, go with the Bandwagon.... PLAY THE GNOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [img]smile.gif[/img]

You could always try to run through WK in SOA to get to the machine, but that is TOUGH, especially near the beginning.
I'd go with a gnome if you don't have ToB but....

to take one of the good paths in hell. The problem is that this is the same path that, if done evilly will give you +2 to ST. Obviously, if you're aligned good, or a straight mage, this doesn't matter as much, but anything else you might want it.
In any case, if you've got ToB just wait, as I find that Human Conjurers are better, and the difference between 18 and 19 didn't matter 2 much 2 me.
