A large pilot whale has appeared in the Thames in central London, swimming past the houses of parliment, unfortunately it now seems to be trying to beach itself, traffic has come to a standstill along the embankment one of Londons buisest roads

it's not a whale. It's Osama bin Laden's new trojan horse... suicide submarine wrapped in whale skin... :D

I heard about this today, it's not the first time a whale has been found in the Thames Estuary, but it's the first time I've heard of it.
It was spotted by a bus traveller who thought he was hallucinating.

I have just heard the sad news that the whale died.

But credit to London for cleaning up the cesspool that used to be the Thames enough to attract the whale in the first place. A question for our London or UK friends, are any swimming compition held in the Thames (central London area)?
