how do i beat fikragg i have
my my character is a thief assasnin minsc jaheria anomen valgara edwin ive tried harm but i can never hit with it ive tried dcay but it never lasts long enough to kill him and i am casting remove magic and magic resistance on him at the start of every try. i need your help ive being trying for ages |
1) Summon some cannon fodder and keep summoning more as they die
2) Use lots of Fire Resistance stuff 3) Attack from many directions, so one Wing Buffet can't incapacitate them all at once 4) Keep your spellcasters well away from him 5) Don't waste time hitting him with things like Fireball and Flame Arrow. All of these are general Dragon tactics, except the Fire-related ones, which are unique to Firkragg. Read the descriptions on some more spells, and try to get some devious ideas. [EDIT] P.S.: You've got 3 Tanks, 1 substitute Tank and only one Mage. That could be your problem right there. (That type of party was ideal for BG1, but it's gonna get its butt kicked in BG2.) The Harm spell is a good idea, but don't depend on it, as Firkraag has an ungodly low AC (just checked, it's -11) and you've got to hit him for the Harm to work. Try buffing Anomen or Jaheira up with spells that improve their THACO first.
In addition to Six's excellent suggestions, have 2 or 3 Breach spells handy to remove his protections. You also might consider laying down several traps, and if Firkraag looks like he is keying on one character, have that character lead him into them. As an alternative, if you don't have ToB installed, you can lay the traps directly on him. If Anomen is high enough level, try casting PFE 10'radius and then Gating in a pit fiend to soften him up. BTW, in case you don't do this already, cast Remove Fear on your party beforehand or you'll lose control over quite a few of your party members.

Before the battle, set up Jahiera with Iron Skins and Edwin with Stoneskins. Have them both summon elementals. Use the spells advised in previous posts as well.
What level is everyone? Is Jahiera high enough to cast Nature's Beauty? Position everyone but Jahiera and Edwin around Firkragg, and move the former off to the side so they aren't inadvertently hit by a Wing Buffet or something like that. Your tanks can hack away while Jahiera casts Magic Resistance on Firkragg which will actually lower his MR. Then Edwin can cast Lower Resistance while Jahiera starts casting Nature's Beauty (She has to be relatively close, so time it so she moves in right after everyone recovers and moves back into the fray after a WB, so you know he won't do it again and interrupt her spell). After Edwin casts Lower Resistance he should cast Feeblemind. Between that and blindness he'll be rendered helpless. All you need to do after that is decide which member you want to have Firkragg listed under "Strongest Killed." |
firkhaag is sooo annoying specially when he do the 'mushes potato dance'. heres the ingredients
1 summon monster (dontworry he'll kill it right away) 3 summon monsters (to keep him busy) 3 sweet cloud kill (cast it while your out of his sight) 2 pestilence (summon insects) and a bunch of ice arrows (he likes it ) mixed this things together. set the computer in 100 degrees. serve with beer! |
Hence, this tip will allow you to kill him in only 2 ROUNDS! (Or maybe less) But takes much time, your real time.
Well, cast MagRes on him and cast Harm on everyone who can. Despite his low AC (-11) well, hit it with your 'HarmCasters' and HOPE they'll hit. If not, RELOAD the game. You shouldn't have much trouble hitting it after 8+ trials, and cast MagArrow on him, he'll biff'd down. Simple, but not so easy. |
i used only Edwin and cast 10 cloud kills after each other outside the view on firkragg so he couldnt attack me =): D

The "pestilence" advice is good. My first time he was butt-kicking me all the way up the stairs. I was sure we were going down - all summonses dead, everyone at minimal HP. But those damned bugs kept getting him, one hit point at a time. Have Jaheira cast as many as possible. And that big red body looks so cool splayed out on the stairwell.
Just in case you care - Casting Magic Resistance on his is exploiting a game bug whereby the magic resistance your caster provides (small % per level) replaces his higher innate Magic Resistance %. In D&D rules, the cast spell would simply have no effect, and the higher MR would stay in place. Try lower resistance instead if you like - a bit less effective, I admit. |
