Yep, click the name of a member of the forum and at the bottom of the profile, there's a link that allows you to add them to an ignore list.

Perhaps he's annoyed by the high volume of my (seemingly) useless posts?

It's for PM's only, and it does work. I once accidentally placed someone on my ignore list, and i never found out i did that, until he contacted me on another board, asking me why i did that. :D

Ahh well, I'll have to do it te old-fashioned way.

Ok, how do you take someone off of your ignore list?
