Well i was looking at a coat of arms and looking for our surname 'Burn' when i stumbled across ours. We are a scottish barbarianish type of family.. No wonder all our family drinks!

Just wondering where your family enherants from.

As far as I know, most of my family comes from a place on the east coast of england called Hull. It was recently voted the worst place to live in Britain. Further back, and I think my surname is partly french in origin.

Burn is about the most scottish surname since McRobie. I could have told you that..

Your name wouldn't happen to be Sun would it ? :D

I wouldn't have a clue where everyone in my family is coming from, never really asked. My mother is from Endor though.

Well, are we counting from just paternal lineage or all inclusive? If the former, then Norwegian. I like to think that way back when my ancestors were a bunch of tough Viking types, though there is absolutely no proof of this. If the latter, then we get into Norwegian, Russian, Alaskan native, Austrian, and something which to the best of my knowledge could only be called Southern White Trash (As opposed to Northern White Trash). Hey, I'm a man of many parts.

From my mother's side, Polish. From my father's side, English, Irish, Scottish, French, and Polish.

My kids get a healthy dose of German added in from their mother...

The 'Burns' House was leveled in 1948 to make room for the new school in Danville. My mother, the last to leave the nest in 1945, had no idea, or claims thereof, or she would have kept it.

I am now 6th generation of American 'Burns', which of the first generation were born here in Philadelphia, PA. Alfred left PA in 1852 and founded "House Burns" in Danville, KY. Here the family became a mighty 'tobacco plantation family'. The roaring 20's brought a new product to the Burns house, it later became known as "Moon Shine".

Ironically, the lake house on Lake Cumberland, KY is owned by my Uncle Beer Burns! </font>

Don't laugh, but i have a roughly proportionate mix of Irish, English, Welsh and Scot in my mother's blood. I don't know for sure if i'm descendant from them, but the first aussies with my father's name were convicts. Okay, you can laugh if you want...

Scots and Natives paternal, Belgian maternal.
