I WAS looking forward to the Nintendo revolution and was eagerly awaiting to see what the controller looked like....

But all the backwards compatability in the world cannot make me want to buy it after seeing the controller

Hmm, I have read a bit more into it and it seems that the controller is pretty complex (It has sensors built in to track the controllers movement and turn that into movement in-game) but the controller still looks horribly stupid, and if I am going to buy this thing in the hopes of playing heaps of cool old Nintendo games, I doubt it will work too well....

*goes off and cries*
*also prepares for Xbox/Playstation fenatics to pounce*

Whoever came up with that design must have been on one hell of a bender. o_O
This looks like something a dentist would own but not like proper gaming equipment :D

I agree...reminds me of a TV remote too much. I don't think its a very good design at all.

Looks like a real finger killer... I wonder how many kids will turn up at the doc's with repetitive motion injuries after using that torture implement for a few days.

A nice laquor finish doesn't make up for crappy ergonomics.

It'll be interesting to see how well the motion sensing control is implemented to games. It just may do for consoles what a certain rodent-esque peripheral did for 1st person games on the PC.

Aside from this one feature (which may well turn out to be a bunch of ass) this is the single worst game controller i've ever seen. A reason not to buy, in fact.

Ugh! Nintendo 64 are the best designs i reckon! I was also hoping for Zelda to come out..

Ilander 09-16-2005 11:01 AM

Well...erm.

Hmm.

*stutters around a bit more*

I'll probably still buy the Revolution. The controller, the more you look at it, the cooler it seems. Motion sensor gaming? I'll want to test it out before I buy mine, but if it's good (and Nintendo HAS precision controling) I'll get it for sure.

Sever's comment is about right. Seriously. And it's even great for left handed gamers, who suddenly find that the arm they have the most fine motor skills with is the arm they get to use.

Don't be so hard on Nintendo for innovation. The PS2 controller is not the perfect controller, despite the fact that it's make is the most common. Without Nintendo's innovation, well, lets just say that the world would be a sadder place, filled with fifty Halo sequels and about a thousand medium-quality games from Sony.

I also don't see that analogue unit as optional, though Nintendo seems to think that it is. We shall see...

Less buttons, not more. Those crazy cats.

I'll support Nintendo 'til the day I die. IMO, this is an incredibly innovative movement. As sever said, precision-aiming has always been a problem in Console-FPSs, due to a lack of a fully manipulative peripheral. I reckon Nintendo has a golden opportunity here to bridge that gap.

Brayf 09-16-2005 11:52 AM

I agree with Jaradu, there's no way this thing won't have been tested over and over again to make sure that it works, so where's the problem?

Have some faith! I can't wait to try this thing out.

Well, it's an interresting design to say the least.
