i was recently on msn the other night when i was stumbled across a file that somebody had sent me which had a virus which i stupidly clicked on. as it being an old virus, it can be redone by the computer by reformating it. i'm just wondering why people do those things, and could it possibly be a keylogger?

Well, you've relearned the first law of safe computing... don't click on anything unless you asked for it.

As to whether it's a keylogger... well, it depends on how it was written. If you go to www.trendmicro.com and run the online scan, it should be able to clean it up. It will also tell you what virus it is, and you can then look that up to see what the little critter's payload is.

i have no idea why people do things like this.

Burnzey, if your still into playing RS then you need to be very careful to make sure it isnt a keylogger or if it is that you do not under any circumstances log into RS before gettin rid of it.

ok ok.. I HAVE THE NEWEST WORM THAT HAS COME OUT! i was watching the news, and the is a virus starting with z,cant remember the name, and apparently, this virus cannot be scrubbed off unless you get the newest microsoft (and or XP), it completeley wipes out all virus scans and demolishes 95, 98 and 2000. It was made in new york and has spread almost worldwide, affecting those with msn messenger. the victom, thinking it's a good site to click on it, clicks n it and the reciever instantly recievs the virus whilst passing on to others. so if you have msn, do not, i repeat, DO NOT click on something if it has:

Hey, is this you? Then a second post saying your email adress.

Don't believe the hype. If you do have Zotob then it is very easy to remove and actually doesn't damage your computer.
