Just doing some research so I'm prepared before I move. What's the deal on high-speed internet in the US (and specifically in Boston)? Is there a choice of broadband providers available? I'm looking at getting cable (or DSL, failing that).
In Australia we have lots of ADSL providers (all reselling the Telstra network - Telstra here now is like AT&T was in the US back then). But when it comes to cable there are only TWO providers - OptusNet and Telstra. What's it like in the US? Can anyone recommend a fast and decent provider which isn't too expensive? |

Thanks mate. Any personal insights from anyone?

After a little more digging I could only find 2 cable services for Boston, Comcast for $19.99 for the 1st six months ($49.95 after that) and Rcn Internet Service for $49.95 per month. I have Verizon DSL that is tacked on to my phone bill at $34.29 a month.

I like Comcast. We have the digital cable w/DVR and tons of channels plus fast internet. All Very reliable. Plus Comcast has a ton of services like on-demand movies and even games.

I should add we told verizon "you suck" a few years ago for there poor DSL service. They might have changed but I'll never go back due to Bad customer service plus unreliable DSL performance and no refund.

I've got Road Runner (Time Warner) but it sounds like that's not available over in Beantown.
