I own a game and want to know how I can make a install/play disc copy out of this. Is it possible to just make a direct copy of the disc or will I have to make an Iso file or something along the lines of that?

I think just a straight copy does it. I've done it a few times myself like that. If you want to be sure create an iso first if you can and then burn it as an iso image.

Ok, for example.

I'm going away to sea with my job in a few weeks, and I want to burn copys of my NWN, HotU & SoU CDs so that I can isntall and play off these CDs.

How do I make an ISO file? And do I just copy ever file of the CD into the Iso file, and it will work that way?

I'd do that via the option cd copy or so. Unless copy protection turns in. But I only know linux tools to make isos.

I very much doubt that copying the cd straight will work anymore...

I'd need to make an ISO, but I have no idea how to do that!

You're using Daemon Tools or Nero, right? Daemon Tools reads ISO and NRJ from nero, so you can just save the disk with Nero's disk-to-disk burn option, and choose the Disk Image Recorder.

I didn't really understand that, treat me as a novice lol!

try getting CloneCD (search google) and copy directly. should work.

An .iso is simply a binary image of the CD - making an .iso and burning it to disk gives exactly the same results as a disc-to-disc copy. Or at least it should. Note that this is not the same thing as just copying the files.

Bypassing copy protection can be a tricky business. I generaly only read up on it when I need to backup a CD with a protection new to me. Google should turn up a fair few articles on what you need to do.

So, using Clone CD to make an exact disc to disc copy should work?

It's just I don't want to take the original CD's all the way around the world with me!
