Revianne and her harper companions who are intent on killing to avenge the death of Galvarey seem to be a pretty tought bunch for my group. What is the best way to deal with these confusion and charm casting bunch. Only my main character being equipped with the Lilarcor seems to not be charmed or confused. I wish there were a search option at this forum and I would have to post this as it's probably old stuff. TIA

Well... you can stash away some Potions of Clarity for the fight, or start casting Chaotic Commands on your party when you see them coming. However, the best defence, is a good offense. That is, prevent their Mage from casting spells by pounding on him, at least enough to disrupt his spellcasting.

Do you have any Druids in your party( ADD] Wait... I just realised this is a stupid question. You need to have Jaheira to have this scenerio anyway. Doh!)? If you do, is he/she level 10+? If yes, hallejuah, because you can cast Insect Plague, which will render their spellcasting useless for six rounds. Even if your Druid is low level, you can still try casting Insect Swarm, or get a Cleric to cast Miscast Magic.

Note: These spells are area-of-effect spells, so it is not necessary to cast it directly on the enemy Mage. In fact, it is more wise not to, because Mages usually have all kinds of whacked-up protection spells that protect from direct targeting, but not indirect targeting. So just cast the spells on a person near the Mage.

Other protection spells include Chant, which improves your saving throws for one turn.

Good luck, and have fun.

PS: Who is in your party?

And of course the golden rule which I live by comes in handy here, summon allies to help you : Summon 'elemental', Spider spawn an Animate dead are all great spells.

Of course, if you want to bypass this fight altogether, you can just go to a savegame shortly before the encounter, go to a temple, and boost your rep. I forget how high it needs to be, but if it's high enough, and you tell Jahiera to stand down her weapons, Reviane won't attack.

It has to be at least 15 or 16, IIRC.

This talk of what spells to cast is all very well and good, but if Revianne and company catch you in Athkatla and you haven't paid your 5000 g.p. bribe to the Cowled Wizards, you could be in major trouble as they will arrive to interrupt your spells. Duck into the nearest building and buff your party up with as many spells and potions as you can; Haste and Remove Fear are especially useful IIRC. When you confront them key first on the spellcasters, use any wands you have. Wands of fire are especially useful when the mage casts a spell that keeps you from specifically targeting him. If you have a wand of monster summoning or any other items that summon things, use them to put a wall of creatures between you and Revianne.

If you take note of what spells I suggested, you will realise that I have not mentioned a single Mage spell. They are all Priest spells which does not trigger the appearance of the Cowled Wizards.

Sigh... I am not cruel enough to give him more grief you know.

Well, you learn something new every day.... I thought that priest spells would trigger the Cowled ones, too, as I seemed to recall it happening to me once a long time ago. I just tested it out and found that I was wrong; however, let me point out that you were not the only one who suggested spells. Raznar's "Spider Spawn" is a mage spell and the other two he suggested could also be.

Well... there is a way to be able to confront them and still use anything you like. Take the fight out of the main city. I like to fight them in Umar Hills. You just need to go outside before the encounter.

For example, if you enter Waukeen's Promenade and meet them, reload the Autosave and select Umar Hills instead.
