The PC I have now used to only hold music, and has a 10GB partition for the C:\ drive and a 90GB partition for the E:\ drive (the one with all the music on, which is shared on the network).

I was wondering if there is any way to increase the partition of C:\ and decrease E:\. I have no need for 90GB worth of space as I don't have that much music.

Any ideas?

Yes. Get yourself a copy of Partition Magic (I can send you version 8 through MSN if you'd like).

This is probably the easiest way, as you don't have to format.

Yeah I agree with using Partition Magic. If you use fdisk you lose data on the partitions you're resizing.

Doesn't he need to purchase it ?

BTW I work for Symantec who now own that software so beware of pirate copies.

Back on topic Partition Magic will definitely do the job for you to resize that partition without losing any data.

Ahh, I was wondering why copies of "Norton partition magic" were turning up everywhere :D

Definitely (apparently no one can spell this) go for partition magic, you only really need a trial copy or something, look around on cnet.com if they have one.

IMHO, deciding to change the split for the partition is equivalent to saying that you don't like how this bag has been separated into two, so you're going to change the line of separation. At the end, you'll *still* have 100GB of space... what's the difference if it's in C: or E:?

I *prefer* to have a smaller C: drive, since I know that's *just* operating system stuff. All my *real* data is on the other half of the drive (or preferably, the other drive).

If the issue is that all of E: is shared on the network, change it so that only a part of it is. Share E:\music as whatever E:\ is shared as now, and create E:\mystuff for your own part. Takes but a couple of minutes to do that, and you don't have to monkey around with anything else.

Much, much easier... much. Less problems, too.

I'm not sure, I just like installing stuff at C:\, easier for me. It's what I'm used to.
