where do I find it? I am at the Galvarey Estates but the door is locked. I thought this is where the Harpers were located. I could pick the lock but doubt this would get me the quest.

Travel around the docks and you'll get into a fight mid-journey at some point. There'll be a group trying to kill some guy on the floor and then attack you. Kill them and the man asks to be taken to the harper stronghold. Take the body and talk to the man outside the harper building. You'll run into Xan a little later.

Xan is a swell enough elven chap from BG1

Xzar is a no-good Zhentarim necromancer who also appears in BG1. Xzar will give you the harper quest. Dont worry though. It will not turn you evil or anything.

Though the quest itself is on a timer or something like that.. You'll be "waylaid by enemies" at some point during chapter two or three, and you don't need to be in the docks either. Just go about your business.. you'll find it soon enough.

I believe i ran into someone at the very beginning of chapter two on my way to help Nalia. I turned around and took this almost dead guy to the harper stronghold (Galvarey Estates). Do I need to now accept Xzar's quest to break in and rescue his evil side kick?

Yes do Xzars quest that will continue the story with the Harpers.

i thought the harper stronghold was a building all it's own in the docks district. And i always get that quest when i leave the city gate.

Uh, Lancer, that is what it is. As for you always getting it when you leave the gates.. I dunno, maybe it's got something to do with the order you do quests in or something.

When u try and leave Athktla for the first time(going out the city gates) u will be waylaid by enemies that r trying to kill Renfield, after killing the enemies, Renfield will talk to u and the quest begins.

Hey, I rescued Zxar's buddy, then Jaheira got called to the Harper building. When she came back we all went to the harper building where they wanted to lock me up. i killed everybody there. Is that the quest? I thought they would send me somewhere?
