I think this was posted before on the Current Events forum at one time, by the way. Not that anyone really cares...

This also fairly well summarizes their knowledge of how hair 'works' lol. I'm sure our bodies spend SO much resources maintaining dead tissue. For us to lose oxygen to our hair, we'd have to have an open network of capillaries in the scalp, which would be, quite literally, a bloody mess.

Well, they have been ripping out fingernails over there for a while, perhaps that was done for similar reasons :D
