Asked my flatmate (a petite Chinese Girl) for a date.
Problem was that I was only 22 (she's 23) so she refused, instead considering me as a "friend". :( Sigh...the thing is, I've never been lucky with Girls, and she was the *first* person I ever asked out... Oh well, next time I suppose... Or, am I one of the people that are crap at scoring with girls in general...hope not... there are a million rejections happening everyday D*Ranged. But since its your *first*, best advice I can give you is that dont take it too personally. All of us blokes had that the very first time they asked someone out and first rejection is the worst I reckon.
Dont worry D*ranged, as friends tell me "there are other million fish in the sea" ;) |
Suck it up and just get back on that horse again.
Actually the first rejection may be good for you. You never know, now that she knows how you feel she may start looking at you in a different way. Give it time, play it cool and you will be right. |
That sucks. She would not go out for a date just because of the age thing. Sounds weak to me. And no worries every thing happens for a reason. Just wait some great girl will show up and sweep you off your feet. Just make sure they are clean. ;)

The fact that she is a flatmate makes it uncomfortable for her no doubt. Yeah rejection sucks but you will get over it. I always found the formal asking for a date never worked the best, just talking and finding a common intrest then sharing some time doing that common intrest like watching a film you both want to see is less confronting.

I know the feeling very well of having the first proposition being a rejection...but with effort, you CAN find someone.

Yeah, its probably better that she said no than for you and her to go out, and something go wrong and then have an ongoing uncomfortable situation going on whenever you are around her (which would probably be very often)
But dont worry mate, it happens to everyone, even the best of us ;) |
One rule of sales is that it takes eight contacts with a prospect to get a yes. Now, I'm not suggesting that you're selling yourself here, but the principles still apply -- that it's quite common to get multiple rejections before you land that customer (so to speak).
I agree with Wellard, BTW. Find someone with common interests, and do that common interest together. That can then lead to dates and so on. An alternative is to have tickets to something, and ask for company. I'm not talking about to a movie Friday night (although winning tickets is pretty cool, and a nice move); I'm talking about a play, a show, a concert... something that's an event. Don't let the first rejection get you down. There will be plenty more... and plenty of acceptances to keep you going :D Good luck |
