Woman allegedly raped by 'husband imposter'

March 01 2005 at 10:47AM

Police were searching on Tuesday for a man who entered his neighbour's house in Hazyview, Mpumalanga, and had sex with a woman who mistook him for her husband.

Mpumalanga police Captain Benjamin Bhembe said the intruder may have overheard the 48-year-old woman's husband mention that he would be visiting a neighbour.

The woman reported to police that she had been sleeping on Saturday night, but woke up to a man undressing her.

She had sex with him as she thought it was her husband.

"It is very puzzling, normally you know your partner by weight or smell," said Bhembe.

He said the woman lit a candle when she wanted to get up and drink water and the imposter tried to hide his face.

The duped woman realised it was not her husband and started screaming "Who are you?" as he grabbed his clothes and fled through the window.

She later identified the man as a neighbour.

Police have opened a case of rape against him and they suspect the man is hiding, Bhembe said. - Sapa

And this guy thought he wouldn't get caught? I mean, if his plan was to rape her, those most often end in murders. If he didn't want to kill her and caught a lucky break while she thought it was her husband, why did he just stay there until he was going to get figured out?

Mpumalanga? Forgive me if I'm spreading stereotypes of Americans being ignorant of geography, but... is that a real place? Or are they just kidding?

Google?

It took me maybe 30 seconds to find out that Mpumalanga was a region in South Africa near the border with Mozambique.

Say what? I've tried the "undressing her while she's sleeping" approach, and among the things it has led to, sex has *never* been one of them :D

Well... it's still silly... unless she was "sleepwalking"

Yeah you ignorant Americans! Its Mpulanga, just across Tkataala, by the Kyleekripo passage, which lead to no other but the mountainous hamlet of Spektomangamoti.

*To be honest, I was thinking the same thing. ;)
